About HOPE2008

Market Square Celebration of Hope Nottingham - August 30th and 31st 2008

Imagine the scene.  Thousands of Christians from all around Nottinghamshire gathered together as the church to celebrate what has been achieved in our villages, towns and cities in bringing real Hope to our communities.  It will be a great opportunity to share with the people of Nottingham and with local media what has been experienced, with real life stories of change, hope and even of personal transformation.  It will also be a very public presentation of faith in the Market Square, as we clearly demonstrate that the church has a very real contribution and role in modern day society.

Everyone will be welcome and there will be something for everyone at this Hope Festival event for the whole of Nottinghamshire.  The vision is that there will be a Saturday afternoon fun event for the whole family, followed by a Youth Celebration and then an evening concert.  Sunday morning will see a major Christian Celebration of Faith and we aim to have key church and community leaders present to share with us.  This could then be followed by a Festival of Hope with music, drama and dance from local artistes, but plans are still in there earliest stages.

THIS EVENT HOWEVER IS NOT THE MAIN FOCUS OF HOPE NOTTINGHAM, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF HOPE WILL BE WHAT INDIVIDUALS AND CHURCHES DO IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHERS TO BRING HOPE TO THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY.  HOWEVER, THE LEADERSHIP OF HOPE NOTTINGHAM DID FEEL THAT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO GIVE THANKS FOR WHAT HAD BEEN ACHIEVED, TO CELEBRATE EVERY WIN AND ULTIMATELY TO GIVE THANKS TO GOD AS THE CHURCH IN NOTTINGHAM.

Would you like to help with this major initiative, there will be lots of opportunities to get involved? Will your church consider closing it's normal worship to meet with other Christians on this occasion?  We would love to give your church the opportunity to share with others what has been achieved during Hope Nottingham and what your plans are for the future.  E mail rob.cotton@biblesociety.org.uk if you can help.

We would be very interested to be kept informed about this event. You may be interested to know that most Sunday evenings at 4.30pm we conduct a short open air service in the Market Square. However we do have a break for summer and the Christmas break!!
God bless you in all that you are doing
